New Planting on Illinois Hunting land
By · Comments
We finished planting 8 acres of soybeans the first week of June that will remain all year as a food plot for the whitetail deer. They have already started eating it. We also mowed the property and planted two clover fields (around 1 acre each) the 2nd week in May. Both fields are doing fine, and as you can see from the pictures, clover has already come up. Since we are really the only food plot in the immediate area, hunting, especially archery hunting, for whitetail deer should be terrific this year. We have seen lots of deer on the property since May, and some Bucks that had some good horns growing. The two deer in the pictures looking at you are 160-170 class Bucks enjoying our food! Because we have continually nurtured the property, we have seen lots of deer beds and wild turkeys while mowing the property. If you are interested in hunting whitetail deer in Hancock County, Illinois, this coming archery season, you can contact us as indicated on our home page.
Deer hunting with an Eagle
By · CommentsThis video is amazing. It was not taken on our land, but it is pretty interesting to watch…thought you might like it. I have never seen an Eagle hunt a deer quite like this. Nature sure has a way of doing things…
Final Hunt of This Season
By · CommentsIn Illinois, the final season of whitetail deer hunting allows those hunters who didn’t fill all of their tags to come out and shoot antlerless deer. It’s a good time to take stock of the prior hunting season and to plan for the next season. The deer herd in this part of Illinois is healthy and abundant. Since we are located in Hancock County, by the Golden Triangle in Illinois (Pike County, Adams County, and Brown County), which is basically farm country and woods, the hunting conditions on our property itself are inducive to whitetails. Even though it was extremely cold, on that last weekend of hunting we saw about 20 whitetail deer. Most of the deer were females that had grouped up already. But we did see a group of 4 bucks laying down together. 2 bucks were in the 150 class (they still had there antlers) but the other 2 had already dropped their antlers.. The Illinois whitetail deer archery season starts on October 1st each year and continues through mid-January. When walking the property to remove the tree stands, we also saw about 40 turkeys. Those of you interested in hunting turkeys in the future, should contact us, either through this website or (815) 483-8729.
